figured out a secret last week. put the basil on top of the sauce but under the cheese to keep the flavor in there and not let it burn

whoa, that’s fascinating…

Loves me those Le Quartier pizza crusts. Really light sauce, fresh mozz, garlic salt, black pepper, and mushrooms and olives that pee all over the pizza and make me have to soak it up with a napkin :(

You turned me on to those things and I love

Mr. T | July 7, 2009

You turned me on to those things and I love them too! In fact, I was over at Le Quartier in Southpointe on Friday to pick some up, and I saw you in the distance!

I like to use fresh tomatoes as toppings. What other toppings do you like to use? What sort of sauces do you use? The only thing I can find in most of the stores here in town is the traditional jarred sauce by Ragu. Would love to find alternatives. If you know of any, please do tell!

I tried making my own once, then had some vals

I tried making my own once, then had some vals pizza sauce to try and get Theresa to eat pizza made at home. Those were lame and I tried Dei Fratelli pizza sauce because we like their tomato sauces. It is cheap and can be found at most places. Every super saver and russes I have been to has it. Strange thing is it is not located by the pasta sauces or tomato sauces. Always in the ethnic area with the biboli pizza crusts.

I get the Bel Gioioso fresh mozz cheeze too.

I pretty much stick with olives or mushrooms. Trying to stay away from greasy meats. That one in the pic was a severe overload. I usually keep it pretty light with the sauce and cheese. Sometimes I get hungry though. Tomatoes sound delicious. Have a bunch in the garden, but nowhere near done.

Seems they keep making the crusts really thick on the outside and really thin in the middle, but they still good. Favorite bakery in town. Big fluffy breads. We try to freeze the breads, but you pretty much have to eat the bread the day for it to be good. Tricky bastards ;)

Thanks for the tip on the sauce. Dude, I seriously

Thanks for the tip on the sauce. Dude, I seriously have never seen that carried in any of the stores I visit regularly. Let me know where you spot it around town and I’ll definitely give it a try!

I’m one of those freaks who also likes anchovies on pizza. Unfortunately I can only find the super salted and oiled up ones in the little tins. Would love to find an alternative.

Do you use canned black olives?

They always hide that pizza sauce, but I have seen

beerorkid | July 8, 2009

They always hide that pizza sauce, but I have seen it at all versions of the B&R chain stores. Never by the pasta or other canned sauces though.

I love olives so much. I get a bunch of cans and only about 1/2 a can makes it onto the pizza, the rest I gobble right out of the can.

I am a fan of anchovies, but I like the salty and oily ones.

I am a doofus! I was at Russ's this evening

Mr. T | July 8, 2009

I am a doofus! I was at Russ’s this evening and saw it. All this time I’ve been looking for pizza sauce in jars. Lo and behold, there are several more brands in cans. Doh!

When my Ragu runs out I’ll try the Dei Fratelli!

Stopped by open harvest after work. Picked up 3 more

Mr. T | July 10, 2009

Stopped by open harvest after work. Picked up 3 more whole wheat pizza crusts. Will be making more tonight and over the weekend. This stuff rules.

I stick with the white, but have done the whole

beerorkid | July 10, 2009

I stick with the white, but have done the whole wheat. I still crave the blandness of the crust and the way it tastes with my cooking method. I switch rack positions twice in the 8 minutes it takes. The freshness shines through and the toppings shine.

Still for a simple meal without dirting a bunch of stuff it simply cannot be beat. If I can make one over my lunch hour and still have time to chill I am very satisfied for sure. Totinos can kiss my arse.

Yes! Yesterday got me 2 packs of crust (one wheat, one

Mr. T | August 2, 2009

Yes!

Yesterday got me 2 packs of crust (one wheat, one white), some fresh mushrooms, and onions, as well as the mysterious Dei Fratelli sauce!

Made a pizza last night. It ruled. Big honkin’ chunks of fresh mushrooms and onions. Making one for lunch now. It, too, shall rule.
