I usually use greek yogurt to make frozy treats, but they were out. So I strained a vat O yogurt for the nummy. I could not believe how much liquid strained out. I thought I had some frozen fruit, but ended up scraping 3 vanilla beans for their innards and made a thick goop. I hope the vanilla sets in with its flavor. Right now it is a tangy sweet frozen cream.

So we went to best buy and decided we should pick up something for dinner while we were out. Got to the supermarket and still had no clue what to make. Theresa suggested potato soup and it sounded like a cool thing to make. We have made potato and bacon soup a couple times. Our attempts have been hit and miss. Could not find a smoked ham hock so I decided to pick up some smoked turkey legs. Figured I would try and tweak this one so I put some celery, garlic, onion, peppercorns, bay leaf, and a piece of bacon in the pressure cooker. The broth was intensely flavored.

Peeled and diced these potatoes. boiled for a long time with some milk added to the broth. Dug them out and blended them up.

Some bacon.  Two kinds

It was still really flavorful and kind of salty. Asked Theresa if I should throw some corn in there and some cheese. She thought that sounded awesome so in they went.

More potato cubes and slowly cooked it till they were ready. It was the best soup I have ever made. So packed with flavor. Oh man. Going to try that again and again.

This weekend was the first time I have ever made pancakes from scratch. I don’t think I have even made pancakes in the 10 years I have been in my house. Used this recipe

Ingredients

    * 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 tablespoon white sugar
* 1 1/4 cups milk
* 1 egg
* 3 tablespoons butter, melted

I had no clue that there is butter in the mix. Saw that on many recipes. Going to try the Alton Brown ones next. These were pretty darn decent though.

Just wanted to try and make my own egg noodles. Sure, they are cheap, but I googled and made some.

    * 1 pinch salt
* 2 eggs, beaten
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

   1. In a large bowl, stir together the flour and salt. Add the beaten egg, milk, and butter. Knead dough until smooth, about 5 minutes. Let rest in a covered bowl for 10 minutes.
2. On a floured surface, roll out to 1/8 or 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into desired lengths and shapes.
3. Allow to air dry before cooking.
4. To cook fresh pasta, in a large pot with boiling salted water cook until al dente.

I put some black pepper and a mega pinch of salt in there to increase the flavor.

Cooked the noodles in some beef broth

Pulled the noodles, made the gravy, and seared up some beef slices. Bit of lite sour cream and it was ready.

Pretty darn good. Not a huge improvement though. I should of made them shorter and thinner, but was a good first time and too easy.

Seems they forgot to list cheese as an ingredient, but I am pretty sure it was mozzarella. I am a huge fan of their pizza crusts and enjoy them for lunch with light toppings. This frozen pizza was loaded with toppings. It was a hearty meal and could easily be split between two people with a side salad and some bread. At just under $7 it was a bit pricey, but local and made with great ingredients.

The Leek sauce scared me before I tried it, but it was delicious. Not greasy and the big chunks of toppings made each bite unique. I would eat it again for sure.
